Ms. Mendez is an associate attorney in the Orlando office of ABD, where her current practice focuses on the defense of Personal Injury Protection claims. In addition to her civil litigation experience, Ms. Mendez represented the State of Florida as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit of Florida for over five years. While at the State Attorney’s Office, Ms. Mendez litigated over sixty jury trials, including attempted murder with a firearm, handled complex pre-trial litigation motion practice, and deposed and crossed expert witnesses. Both positions have given her the opportunity to litigate a variety of procedural and substantive issues.
In addition to her courtroom experience, Ms. Mendez assisted in training law enforcement agencies in conducting thorough investigations involving elder abuse. She also given presentations to community partnership organizations on legal issues affecting elder abuse victims as part of a task force comprised of law enforcement and victim service organizations in Osceola County.
During law school, Ms. Mendez was the president of the Hispanic Law Student Association (HLSA) and received a book award scholarship from the Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida (HBACF).
